Caring for your Teak patio furniture

Teak is a dream come true for people who do not have a lot of time they can devote to caring for their patio furniture because it requires minimal care and still looks wonderful. The golden honey color of teak will soon turn to a slivery gray with time. Teak is the highest quality of outdoor furniture and is ideal for outdoor use. Here are some tips to clean your teak patio furniture.

You can uses cleaners like the one above from Barlow Tyrie or you can use soapy water and a non metallic brush or sponge to gently scrub the dirt from the surface of the wood.

When you are scrubbing the teak make sure you go with the grain of the wood.

Use a garden hose to rinse off the furniture after it is cleaned. Do Not power wash your teak because it will splinter. Dry with a towel after.

To remove stains from teak can be fairly simple. If the stain does get removed after the water cleaner you can use  sandpaper to give the wood a light sanding.

If you are planning to keep your furniture out during the winter months  you can cover your furniture so it does not trap in the moisture. Also give it a good cleaning before using for the first time in the spring.

Teak does not require polishing but if you prefer the golden color it achieves in the sun you can buy a sealant  and apply it from time to time.

Don't let your teak stay in a pool of water even though it will not rot this will help you be able to keep your teak longer.
